4F Frankie is Overseas-Bound
Frankie Sinatra, who's been seeing a lot of his draft board lately, puts himself at the mercy of his Jersey City friends and neighbors for what may be the last time. Latest verdict: 4F.
HOLLYWOOD, Mar. 6 — Frank Sinatra, deferred from the service by his Jersey City draft board, is going overseas.
The 29-year old crooner, classified 4F by the latest Selective Service decision, said today he would soon begin a tour of Army and Navy overseas bases following his current series of appearances at Army hospitals in the States.
Sinatra last night was placed in 4F by unanimous vote of his local board
after War Department officials disqualified him for the second time because of a punctured eardrum. A preliminary ruling last week had classified him 2F—as essential to the home front.
Notified of his deferment, Sinatra commented:
"I have experienced the same emotions as millions of other guys, but I certainly envy them their privacy."
