The landmark The Columbia Years: The Complete Recordings 1943-1952 is a bit of misnomer. When issued (in 1993), the producers decided to include one take from every song at every session. When selecting the best take, sometimes alternates were used (i.e., not the take that was used for the original 78). Subsequently, some of these takes (plus newly discovered ones) have been released on CD. This is a list of those Columbia recordings that "surround" the Blue Box. Some still unreleased, some new discoveries. |
